Getting to Falls Creek

Self Driving
There are several ways to travel to Falls Creek.  Falls Creek is the closest alpine resort to Albury, an easy day’s drive from Sydney & four and a half hour drive from Melbourne. You can reach Falls Creek in a comfortable day of driving from most locations in Victoria and New South Wales.

In winter you will need to carry snow chains at all times and buy a Resort Entry permit before entering the resort at Howman’s Gap. During summer there is no charge for vehicle entry to the resort.

Private Services
Falls Bus offers premium coach transfers from Melbourne CBD, Tullamarine Airport along with shuttle connections from most Qantas Flights at Albury Airport directly to Falls Creek www.fallsbus.com.au

Falls Creak Coach Service/Caltex Tawonga has winter fuel and good value chain hire 7 days a week. They offer undercover and outdoor park and ride service from Mount Beauty for those not wanting the hassle of driving up the mountain. 

Mount Beauty Transfers Offers pick-ups from Melbourne Airport, Albury Airport, Albury/Wodonga, Bright, Mt Beauty, Falls Creek, or Mt Hotham.  Personal transport for solo travelers, couples, families, and small groups (up to six passengers), fixed fare, flexible pick-up times, and no charge for luggage trailers and child seats.

Public Transport
Various options are available to get visitors most of the way to Falls Creek via the Victorian and New South Wales regional rail services. Visit V/Line website | Visit NSW Trainlink Website

Resort Entry and Parking 

Outside of the declared snow season, no resort entry or parking fee applies.
During the declared snow season, Resort Entry & Parking Fees apply.  This fee helps provide parking facilities and snow clearing services, cross country trails, and ski patrol. To purchase your resort entry permit please go to www.fallscreek.com.au/resortentry

During winter, parking is in the resort’s overnight car park. Parking attendants will direct you where to unload your luggage and show the driver where to park.

In summer, there is street parking available throughout the village. During peak times including Christmas/New Year, Peaks Challenge and Easter, village access may be limited. You will be able to access the village to unload/load luggage but will be required to park your car in the resorts overnight car park area.

Snow chains are a legal requirement for ALL vehicles entering Falls Creek alpine resort. All vehicles (including 2WD & 4WD) must carry a pair of snow chains even when the roads are clear during the declared snow season. Random checks from police will be carried out during the season and fines do apply. Snow chains can be hired from various ski hire and service stations on your way to Falls Creek or you may wish to purchase/hire them before you commence your journey. There is designated snow chain fitting bays along the mountain ascent so make sure you are aware of how to fit chains correctly. Make sure you have a torch, towel, gloves and a plastic sheet as you never what time of the day or in what conditions you may need to fit snow chains.


Accommodation Transfer Service

LIft and lesson products

When possible, purchase your lift tickets online and in advance to secure the best price for your snow holiday.  Tickets can also be purchased in the village bowl or in slalom plaza at a Falls Creek Sports outlet.

Supermarket - Foodworks

Located at the bottom of Halley’s Express chairlift, in front of Slalom Day Carpark. If you shop before 2pm they can deliver your groceries to your lodge. https://foodworks-falls-creek.myfoodworks.com.au/

Post Office

Falls Creek Post Office is open year-round in its Slalom Plaza Location. Located directly in front of Foodworks alongside the stairs to Slalom Plaza.

Child care

While there is no longer any official child care services in Falls Creek, there are some private babysitting services available. Please use your own discretion to search for options.

Medical Centre

For medical emergencies call 000. There are ambulance services based on the mountain during winter but can be called away for emergencies.

The Falls Creek Medical Centre is located on the Bogong High Plains Rd, close to the bottom of the Gully Chairlift.

Open every day during the snow season between 10am – 6 pm.

Alternatively, for non-life threatening conditions, Victoria offers free 24 hours Virtual Emergency Department for medical advice.

The nearest pharmacist is in Mt Beauty. During winter scripts can be filled there and sent to Falls Creek by delivery service (not available in summer) and can be collected from the Falls Creek Alpine Resort Management office, 7 days a week from 9am to 5pm. Some over the counter medications are available from the Falls Creek supermarket. Some paediatric over the counter prescriptions may be purchased at the medical centre but are only available after a consultation with a doctor.

 

Fuel/petrol station

If you drive a diesel vehicle you should use an alpine mix diesel available at service station in Mount Beauty, Bright and Myrtleford. Falls Creek does not have a fuel station so ensure you fill up before driving up the mountain. Mt Beauty fuel stations are closest open from 7am – 7pm all year round. The RACV runs emergency operations 24 hours a day 7 days a week during the season.
