Falls Creek XCO – Victorian State Championship Series

22-23 jan 2022

XCO, or Cross country Olympic Format is one of the most well know and exciting disciplines of mountain biking. Cross country MTB became an Olympic sport in 1996 and is the only form of mountain biking practiced at the Olympics. With head to head racing, technical tracks and world class athletes, it’s an action packed event.

The rules for cross country mountain biking for the Olympics are actually pretty simple. The race has a mass start, with all of the riders starting at the same time, and the riders then have to finish a set amount of laps around a course between four kilometres and six kilometres in length. The number of laps to be completed is dependant on the category entered.

There are six rounds in this series and your best four results will be counted towards your series result. Meaning: if you miss a race or have a mechanical problem, you still have a chance.

For more information about categories and format, visit the Victorian Mountain Biking Championship Series website.

All events are subject to change due to possible government COVID restrictions.

FEASTIVAL Falls Creek is a brand-new, three-day festival, held in the pristine Alpine environment of Falls Creek, in North-East Victoria. After the devastation of the 2020 bushfires, and the ongoing challenges of COVID-19 restrictions, the community is coming out the other side with a ‘feast’ of music, art, comedy, science and food.

FEASTIVAL will take place from Friday the 18 – Sunday the 20 February 2022, in and around the Falls Creek Village. The pièce de resistance is a free music festival on the Saturday afternoon, featuring a host of Australian artists: from the internationally renowned to the locally grown.

This will be surrounded by a variety of ticketed events throughout the village, including our comedy night, science talks, art-exhibitions and installations, charity walk, yoga and pilates, and a farmers’ market, showcasing the wares and products of the amazing creators of the North-East.

For those partial to the higher adrenaline, Mountain Bike shuttles will be operating all weekend, giving you all-mountain access to our world-class trails.

So join your friends and friends-to-be to sing, dance, eat, drink, laugh, learn, create, and ride.
