Cycling Falls Creek
Just a taste of what’s on offer:
| The Aqueducts Trails |
The relatively flat and wide grassy roads built to maintain the aqueducts, part of the Kiewa Hydroelectric scheme, make fantastic riding trails. The Aqueduct trails are an excellent way to ease into physical activity at this altitude. There are over 30 kms of aqueduct within and extending from Falls Creek Resort into the Alpine National Park. For beginners ride to Rocky Valley Dam from Falls Creek. For a longer ride try the circuit from Langford's Gap, taking in historic Wallace and Cope Hut before returning along the Bogong High Plains Rd. |
| Resort Sightseeing Bike Tour |
This ride follows mostly gravel roads with undulating gradient and if you take in all the sights you will travel around 22 kms. Take in some wonderful Falls Creek sights such as Ruined Castle, serene Pretty Valley Pondage and if you’ve got the legs, you can ride to the top of Mt McKay. At 1842m it’s the resort’s highest point. |
| Alpine National Park |
Within the surrounding National Park there are many management vehicle tracks which can be accessed for cycling. Please note that designated walking tracks cannot be used for cycling. Contact Parks Victoria or information centres at Falls Creek or Mt Beauty for more details. |
